Gland Expression
Dogs use their anal glands to mark their territory and communicate with other dogs. Anal gland expression is important for a dog's health because it prevents discomfort, infections, and other issues. If a dog's anal glands aren't expressed, bacteria can build up and cause infections. If an infection isn't treated, it can lead to an abscess, which is painful and may require veterinary treatment. When the glands are functioning properly, they help to lubricate the anus and keep the area clean. If a dog's anal glands are blocked, they can become swollen, painful, and itchy. This can lead to excessive licking, scooting, or other behavioral issues or trips to the vet.
Knot Removal/
De-Matting
A basic, water-less service add-on to any nail trim appointment. Mats can cause bruising and hematomas, restricting airflow, trapping moisture against the skin and resulting in bacterial infections. If not removed, mats can become so tight that they cut off circulation. Your pet will be thanking you for this knot removal service! *PLEASE NOTE - THIS SERVICE DOES NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF REGULAR GROOMING*
Ears are cleaned with a vet-approved sanitary solution. Ears are opened for clear viewing before a vet-approved ear cleaning solution is poured into your dog's ear canal. It is then gently massaged at the base of the outside of the ear to loosen any buildup. After cleaning, any visible residue is removed with a dry cotton ball. Ears will continue to air dry after the appointment.
Sanitary Shaves
Excess hair is removed from the pet's anal area. A sanitary shave, also known as a sanitary trim or hygiene trim, is the process of trimming or shaving a dog's coat in areas that are prone to getting dirty when a dog urinates or defecates. This typically includes the abdomen, genitals, and anus.
Nail Painting
Nails are painted post-nail trim. Paint lasts 2-4 weeks depending on the activity level of the pet. Pampering pretty girls with some color at appointments is SO fun! With this Add-On, pets receive their full clip & dremel prior to the application of a pet-safe polish. *Color varieties are subject to change seasonally*
Dog’s teeth & gums are brushed with a disposable toothbrush designed for dogs along with a pet-safe enzymatic formula toothpaste that helps break down plaque and tartar. Over 80% of dogs over the age of three are estimated to have periodontal disease, which is an inflammation or infection of the tissues surrounding their teeth. Periodontal disease begins as gingivitis, caused by the buildup of plaque. This condition can progress to affect the bony sockets that hold the teeth in place. Plaque is a collection of bacteria that starts to form on the teeth just hours after a meal or even after a professional cleaning. Within a day, plaque can combine with minerals in the saliva to form tartar, also known as calculus. If left untreated, periodontal disease can result in painful tooth loss. *PLEASE NOTE - THIS SERVICE DOES NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF A DENTAL DONE BY A LICENSED VETERINARIAN*
Paw Pad Fur Cleanup
Excess fur is removed between toes and paw pads. Removing excess paw fur from a dog's feet is important because it prevents dirt, debris, snow, and even grass seeds from getting caught between their paw pads. Certain debris can lead to discomfort, matting, infections, and potential injuries. Clipping excess fur also improves traction on slippery surfaces, especially for seniors, and allows for easier inspection of the paw pads for any potential wounds or abnormalities.
Tick Removal
Removing ticks from dogs as soon as possible can help prevent medical issues, including: Disease transmission The sooner a tick is removed, the less likely it is that your dog will contract a disease. Ticks can transmit diseases like Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Babesiosis. Symptoms of these diseases can take weeks or months to appear. Tick paralysis Tick saliva contains a neurotoxin that can cause paralysis in dogs. If the tick is removed in time, most dogs will recover. Skin reactions If not removed properly, ticks can cause a skin reaction that leads to an abscess. Anaemia In young dogs, a heavy tick infestation can lead to anemia.
